Typically, to start therapy, the child will require an official evaluation, which usually entails a completion of a standardized assessment.Reach CDC Occupational Therapist completes a comprehensive assessment for Occupational, language, cognition, swallowing and feeding disorders. Therapy is offered for Occupational issues, oral motor skills, language, communication, social interaction, cognitive communication (memory, organizational skills, problem solving) and dysphagia (feeding and swallowing disorders).
The evaluation takes typically takes 1 hour to complete depending on the child's individualized needs. The therapist will conduct an interview and review documentation provided. During the session, you can expect formal and informal assessment tasks to be completed. Following the evaluation, you should expect to receive your report within couple of days following your evaluation.
